NPX to support OPG with Engineering optimization for Pickering Safe Storage

August 30, 2021

NPX has been contracted by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to support the optimization of the Engineering activities associated with the Safe Storage and eventual Decommissioning of Pickering Nuclear Generating Station. OPG is one of the largest, most diverse clean power producers in North America.

In support of OPG’s vision of operational excellence and continuous improvement, NPX will provide innovation support to the Safe Storage Project and Engineering teams. A key outcome expected from this project is to ensure that Engineering and associated project activities are carried out in a safe and cost-effective manner and are optimized for this unique stage of the nuclear power plant lifecycle.

NPX is a nuclear innovation company that partners with nuclear utilities to integrate new ideas, technologies and solutions into nuclear power plant projects and operations. “At NPX we are thinking creatively about all aspects of nuclear, including Decommissioning” said Bharath Nangia, President and Chief Innovation Catalyst at NPX. “NPX was formed with the mission of promoting new ways of thinking and bringing a start‐up mindset to collaboration in the nuclear sector. Our team is excited to support OPG in this important work and help them realize their innovative vision for decommissioning.”

NPX believes in the pivotal role that nuclear energy plays in the fight against the climate crisis and acts as an “innovation catalyst” to make nuclear power even more sustainable for decades to come. The team is excited to bring their innovation mindset to this project.
